What is a Sports Dietitian?
Dietitian's are the only nutrition professionals qualified to assess, diagnose and treat diet nutrition related medical conditions. 'Dietitian' is a legally protected title, requiring registration with the Health-Care Professions Council (HCPC), and commitment to practice at highest standards within an ethical code, providing safe, evidence-based and practical advice.
A Sports Dietitian is a Dietitian with further specialist knowledge and experience in the area of sports and exercise nutrition, and should have an advanced understanding of exercise physiology and biochemistry, and the physical and psychological affect of diet, nutrition and hydration on sports and exercise performance .
